浦人 鳴海
Narumi Urabito
26 winters
83 ponzes
4 fulms, 9½ ilms
An unimposing Raen Au Ra, eyes bright as the moon and hair as if bleached by the sun. A perfection preserved by careful living. Soft features guarded by scales and spines; a rose with thorns.
Delicate, but honest.
Idealistic, but pragmatic.
Cautious, but determined.
All in Eorzea have secrets.
Many wear them on their sleeves, inviting others to investigate and unravel their tales of woes, as if each black mark is a badge of tragic awe and glory.
Yet others are reserved, adamant never to let these hidden marks come to light. They who ascribe to this latter category oft choose to be defined by their actions and contributions, not where they've come from or which labels apply.
A quiet voice of understanding.
A gentle heart of reconciliation.
A soul for unobtainable harmony.
Is the world not troubled enough by petty squabbles and clashing ambitions?
As a body needs healing, so too does the mind.
| Kugane Resident | Kugane is her home, and as such, she can oft be spied on the streets bouncing between the markets and the Ijin District. She's typically dressed according to the local custom, and seems quite comfortable so, garb reminiscent of a successful merchant's daughter. How strange is it, then, that she seemingly spends so much time among foreigners if she is herself local? |
| An Unfamiliar Face | Though she introduces herself as a scholar and a healer, questions about her education at any of the recognized Eorzean institutions always turn up naught. Could it be that she is a liar, a foreigner, or simply self-taught? |
| Conjury in Gridania | There is a record of her having spent a time at the Conjurer's Guild in Gridania, although most accounts are hazy at best. She was there, perhaps for a year or two, perhaps a year or two ago; and not as a member, but an estranged associate, most outstandingly noted for her curious robes and telltale staff. |
| Outlandish Garb | The robes she wears are far too lavish for a modest healer and contrarily military for a scholar. They may be fitting for a noblewoman knight, though never has she claimed to be one. All the more, their style is unlike any Eorzean noble house. If only they weren't so perfectly fitting, one might be tempted to purport that they were stolen. |
| A Curious Weapon | Carrying the traits of both a staff and a mace, in truth it is something different. One would not be wrong to call it a scepter, but the learned eye could identify it as a catalyst. Set above the flanges are four precious stones. Be they crystals, gems or something else, they hold Aetheric influence and seem the source of the powerful currents the scepter can unleash in battle. |

| A Gil for Your Thoughts | There is a long-standing tradition in which, for each day one finds themself thinking of another, they present the subject of their thoughts with a single coin. Should two be thinking of eachother often and exchange so many coins that neither can remember the amount, while never incurring a sizable debt between them, then it is declared the mark of a blessed and wholesome union and the two are wed. Yet inversely, should one court another for a thousand days unanswered, the coins become as a dowry and the other is bound by law to reward their suitor for their persistence and unwavering devotion. |
| Death Before Dishonor | Central to the traditional strains of Far Eastern life are the deep values of honor and duty. This extends beyond fabled warriors: each should be valuable and excellent in their own calling. Whatever one's role, be it great or small, it is expected that they will fulfill it to the utmost. Never issue false promises. Never disobey your elders. Never betray your duty. As the family is the foremost unit in the village, it falls to them to police and condemn their own, lest the dishonor wrought by one be reflected upon them all. And should one bring shame so great that there is no honorable restitution, it is expected that none in the family shall suffer themselves to live in shared disgrace. |
| Sons of the Sun, Daughters of the Moon | It is said that the Au Ra are born of Azim, the Dawn Father, and Nhaama, the Dusk Mother. While traditionally the Raen consider themselves to hold the blessing of Azim, and the Xaela that of Nhaama, some tales tell that after returning to the heavens, Azim loved his ever-separate wife so desperately that he descended to be among her people as one of them, fathering a Xaela clan. It tells further that, upon learning of this, Nhaama was greatly moved, and those tears she cried fell to the land and birthed daughters destined for Azim's sons. Yet in the same way that Azim became a Duskscale, the village believes that the tears of Nhaama begot Dawnscales. It is from these daughters that the village draws their heritage. |
